RESUMO:

A rich assemblage of members of Microlaimidae has been found in samples sediments collected in the South Atlantic, along the Continental Shelf break of Northeastern Brazil. Five new species of the family Microlaimidae (Nematoda, Microlaimida) are described. Microlaimus paraundulatus sp. n. and Microlaimus modestus sp. n. are among the smallest species described for the genus. Microlaimus nordestinus sp. n. is characterized by combination of the following features: relatively long body; eight rows of hypodermal glands that extend longitudinally along of the body; the size and position of the amphidial fovea and the shape of the gubernaculum. New species of the genera Spirobolbolaimus and Ixonema are described for the first time from the South Atlantic. Spirobolbolaimus pernambucanus sp. n. it has six external labial setae and four cephalic setae of approximately the same length. Ixonema gracieleae sp. n. differs from other species of Ixonema by having setae on peduncles. The amendment of the diagnosis is proposed for the three genera.
