SUMMARY:

The research about Popular Education in the festive context is part of the local, global and
timeless scene. In the different historical contexts, the phenomenon of the festival promoted
educational practices consistent and antagonistic to the interests of the people, being able to
reaffirm the organization of routines or subvert their logic, in anyway the festivals promoted
intentionality that can overcome their form and content with emancipatory meanings. Needing
to celebrate the festive cycles their rituals and symbols, already made up the cultural imaginary
of the mythological narratives of the first human civilizations. The Homo Ludens Hizinga
(2000) who plays and let’s himself be carried away by the autonomous dynamics of the game,
also works and projects the life at the party, printing it to the symbolic marks of routine toils
and/or reversing them as the Dionysian and irreverent feast of Cox revelers (1974) evidenced
in the medieval context. It is used as reference of the popular festivals experienced in CEPA -
"Centro de Educação Popular Assunção", analyzing how this phenomenon and the set of actions
can contribute to the citizen formation of students, educators and community members. We
trust on the thinking of some authors (PESSOA, 2009; RIBEIRO, 1982; JUNG, 1964;
DURAND, 2012; BAKNTIN, 1987; ; FREIRE,1987; 1996; 2000; 2016; ELIADE, 2010;
SOUZA, 2009; NAHMÍAS, 2009; and others) to understand the relationship between the
festive nature and the pedagogical intentionality pedagogical with indications verified in the
Middle Ages, and later in the humanist movement that identified from laughter a valuable
political instrument to denounce the contradictory discourse of the monarchy and the Catholic
Clergy of Rome. It establishes relationship with the students and educators using as
methodological procedure the instruments of the qualitative research approach, favoring the
meaning of the data obtained. The experience of participant observation and semi-structured
interview as data collection instruments proceeded through the collective appreciation of
photographic records, observing/highlighting the organizational dynamics experienced in the
construction of cepa parties. The results obtained in the research pointed out: the possibility of
educating bearing in mind the sensitivities, emphasizing the involvement in an expanded way,
promoting collective participation in the construction and understanding of the symbolic
elements and, thus, promoting a new citizen consciousness forged in the construction dynamics
of the parties with affirmation of individual and collective identities, referenced in the trajectory
and in popular struggles. Despite the exhausting mischaracterization of popular festivals under
the alleged organization of those who politically disorganize the people, it is likely that
everywhere the feast of the people will remain and resist just like the flower that pierced the
asphalt and sprouted.
