SUMMARY:

In our work we present the contributions of two generations of teachers in the
strengthening of the Xukuru do Ororubá identity (Pesqueira and Poção, Pernambuco): the
teaching generation of veteran teachers since the territorial-educational resumptions
(1990s) and the teaching generation of novice teachers, initiated after the creation of the
Pedagogical Political Project of the Xukuru People's Schools (2005). Therefore, we
present the practices of political-cultural strengthening of the Xukuru Warrior Formation
in the precepts and challenges of the pedagogical axes: a) Land; b) Identity; c) History;
d) Organization and; e) Interculturality. We discuss the concepts of the Sociology of
Absences and Emergencies (SANTOS, 2002); the work of translating the emancipatory
educational project (OLIVEIRA, 2008); historical consciousness and dialogic character
(FREIRE, 2016) and the Coloniality of Power, Coloniality of Knowledge, Coloniality of
Being and Coloniality of Mother Nature (SILVA, 2013; 2014; WALSH, 2010). As for

the anthropological categories, we emphasize ethnic identity (POUTIGNAT; STREIFF-
FENART, 2011), the educational community according to Meliá (1979) and markers of

strengthening and denial of ethnic identity in indigenous schools (D'ANGELIS, 2012).
In the context of indigenous school education, we bring as a theoretical novelty, the
appropriate concepts in the intellectual experiences of indigenous peoples, short memory,
long memory and epistemic struggles (CUSICANQUI (2010a; 2010b; 2018) and
epistemic principles of commitment-awareness, emergence of new (the) warriors, Mother
Earth and Gift of Nature of the Formation of the Warrior Xukuru do Ororubá (COPIXO,
1997), beyond the limits and possibilities of intercultural dialogue (QUADROS;
NASCIMENTO; FIALHO, 2016) ), etc. To this end, we used qualitative research with a
social bias (MINAYO, 1994; ESTEBAN, 2010) and as data interpretation, Content
Analysis (BARDIN, 1997) and thematic content analysis (VALA, 1990; GOMES),
1994), when studying the frequencies of meanings and different opinions of Xukuru
teachers approached in semi-structured interviews, carried out remotely (online). Xukuru
people in strengthening ethnic identity. In the general objective, we understand, between
the two generations of teachers, the collaborations of the teachers of the Xukuru people
in the strengthening of the ethnic identity. And from the perspective of specific objectives,
to identify the epistemic struggles in the document Pedagogical Political Project of the
Schools of the Xukuru People of Ororubá (COPIXO, 2013) in relation to the
strengthening of the Xukuru identity. In addition to specifying the epistemic struggles in
the strengthening of indigenous identity in the speeches of the veteran Xukuru teachers
and the novice teachers in the deconstruction of the Colonialities of Power, Knowing,
Being and the Mother- nature. We justify our research in expanding the voice of rights
and knowledge of Xukuru do Ororubá teachers. Thus, we analyzed challenges and
teaching experiences in the Xukuru Magisterium.
