SUMMARY:

In this research I investigate whether the knowledge mobilized by women artisans
from Alto do Moura, Caruaru-PE, diverges from the colonized conception of what
Education is, a conception that keeps them invisible, subordinated and,
consequently, not recognized as educators. Those who help me put together this
map, who show me paths, give clues and point out directions along this route are
Linda Nochlin (2016), Flavia Almeida (2010), Sissa Assis (2012), Flávia Marquetti
(2000), Eli Bartra (1994 ; 2005; 2013; 2018), Roberta Shapiro (2007; 2013) and
Mario de Faria Carvalho (2019) with their contributions to thinking about the History
of Art and the representation of women over time. The writings of Silvia Bovenschen
(1986), Claire Raymond (2019), Luana Tvardovskas (2015), Carolyn Korsmeyer
(2014), Luciane Lucas dos Santos (2017) underlie studies on feminist aesthetics.
Ana Mae Barbosa (2010, 2020), bell hooks (2007; 2021), Paulo Freire (1980; 1989),
Jorge Larrosa (2015) and Everaldo Fernandes da Silva (2011) contribute with clues
to understanding experience as fundamental to construction of educational and
learning processes. The authors Judith Butler and Oyèrónkẹ́ Oyěwùmí have
contributed enormously to thinking about gender constructions and how such
meanings are experienced by societies. I use the Imaginary Theory proposed by
Gilbert Durand (2001) and its contributions to social research as proposed by Mario
by Faria Carvalho and Fernando da Silva Cardoso (2015) considering that the
imaginary is the basis of all cultural construction, including the construction of genres.
I rely on the clues left in the work “Clues for the cartographic method”, organized by
Eduardo Passos, Virgínia Kastrup and Liliana da Escóssia and released in 2020,
seeking to give “language to affections” as proposed by Suely Rolnik, in “Sentimental
Cartography: transformations contemporaries of desire”, 2006.
