SUMMARY:

The theme addressed in this research presents some concerns that relate music teaching and the Covid-19 pandemic. This proposal is part of the line of research entitled Music, Society and Education of the Postgraduate Program in Music, at the Federal University of Pernambuco. The general objective of the study was to understand the pedagogical practices established in music teaching, in basic schools, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The specific objectives were: Identify the processes of technological appropriation in music classes during the Covid-19 pandemic (from 2019 to 2021); Analyze music teachers' conceptions of their pedagogical practices during the Covid-19 pandemic period (from 2019 to 2021); Analyze the dimensions of digital participatory culture and school culture linked to music teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology used is guided by a qualitative approach, using narrative interviews. Five teachers with music degrees who worked at the elementary school during the pandemic, at a time of social isolation and suspension of in-person educational activities, were interviewed. The theoretical foundation articulates perspectives on digital participatory culture, school culture and contextualized teaching practice, with a view to meaningful practice. It is observed that the Emergency Remote Education classes were challenging and had the commitment of the teachers, who began to use social media to continue their school activities. During this process, the possibilities for teaching were expanded due to their ability to adapt and be creative when faced with various challenges. Difficulty accessing the internet presents itself as a recurring problem. The study can contribute, in an expanded way, to the fields of education, music and society, specifically in the challenges that basic schools encounter with regard to pedagogical practices linked to cultural aspects and emergency demands, such as the case of the coronavirus pandemic.
