This dissertation presents the results of the research project “Caminho do samba: Pernambuco samba as an instrument of school musical education in the basic education network”, which aimed to investigate the contributions brought by the booklet “Samba de PE - Caminho do Samba” for the process of teaching musical learning to teenagers in the context of basic school. Based on discussions about musicalization and basic school Penna (1990; 2002), music teaching, youth and basic school (Arroyo, 2013); music teaching, basic school and local culture (Souza, 2020; Queiroz, 2013). The methodological approach of the research was action research, developed during the year 2022 in a class of teenagers, in the ninth year of a public elementary school in the municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes (PE). The result was the perception that working with the booklet allowed different possibilities for musical teaching-learning in basic schools, with collaborative learning between peers, appreciation of the students' knowledge and dialogue with samba makers from Pernambuco.
