19th century typography: a study about Diário de Pernambuco's typography in the 19th century

The study of typographies from a historical period is very important to better understand the technologies used in their context. This work studies advertisements’ typographies in the Diário de Pernambuco from the 1850s, mapping the styles and trends of the types in order to understand the changes that occurred in the proposed era and the collection of movable types of the newspaper. Located in the area of Graphic Memory, it seeks to bring visibility to studies of ephemeral graphic artifacts from Recife in the 19th century. Thus, based on the documental and typographical analysis of several pieces of the newspaper and a deep dive in the historical context, this work intends to build a panorama to better understand the technological changes observed.
