This dissertation investigates the work of Guimarães Rosa based on the notion of “estória” as a rhetorical device capable of establishing new logics of meaning and new possibilities of Being. In dialogue with the prefaces of Tutaméia (1967), it is proposed that Rosian narrative is not limited to representing reality but operates an ontological twist: it creates worlds, reorganizes regimes of truth, and displaces traditional modes of signification. The study articulates this perspective with Reinhart Koselleck’s ideas concerning the problem between the real and the fictitious in historical practice, understanding it as a narrative form that tensions historical linearity and opens space for multiple temporalities and lived experiences. This discussion is deepened through theories of language, especially in Chang Tung-Sun, for whom language not only describes the world but operates by constructing and fixing it in signs within the paradigm of language. From this point, philosophical categories from Heidegger, such as disclosure (Unverbogenheit), and from Deleuze, such as the simulacrum, are also mobilized to think fiction as a space for the emergence of new forms of existence and intelligibility. The analysis culminates in a reading of the short story “Cara-de-Bronze,” taken as exemplary of these operations within Rosian narratives. The story indicates how the internal logics of the characters structure the very fabric of the narrative, producing a reality that is not given in advance but constructed from physis and transfigured into signs, affect, and imagination. In this way, the dissertation argues that, in Guimarães Rosa, to narrate is an ontological gesture: it is to make exist.
