DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS IN TEACHING AND
LEARNING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE THROUGH AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION OF A POTENTIALLY MEANINGFUL TEACHING UNIT (PMTU)
Critical meaningful learning. English as Foreign Language. Learning skills.
This reasearch aims to present an analysis of the influence of a Potentially Meaningful Teaching Unit (PMTU), supported by the audiovisual resource in one of its stages, in the development of competences in teaching and learning. The present participative research of a didactic intervention developed the planning and production of short films by students of secondary school in a public school in Recife. The results revealed that the production of short films by students as a tool for the promotion of Critical Meaningful Learning had a positive impact on the acquisition of the English language. Furthermore, it was relevant for the linguistic and socio-emotional improvement of the students involved in the research. It is expected that this research can contribute to the formulation of pedagogical actions that offer opportunities for the exchange of sociolinguistic experiences, which encourage the protagonism and the integral education of students. It is also hoped that the intervention can be reformulated and adapted to what is actually experienced in the school environment.
