SUMMARY:

This thesis addresses research questions related to Quilombola School Education, which aims to meet the ethnic-cultural specificities of different communities in convergence with the ethical, aesthetic and political principles of national education. The study explored aspects of the statistical literacy perspective that are linked to the understanding and critical evaluation of statistical data. The research had as its general objective: to analyse, from the perspective of statistical literacy, critical reflections of quilombola girls about their community and the reality of women, based on the statistical information produced by them in the experience of the investigative cycle. In addition to proposing the experience of the Investigative Cycle with 5th year students from the Quilombola Onze Negras Community, in the municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, through meetings and conversation circles, the research included documentary analysis complemented by a questionnaire answered by teachers and a Systematic Review of Literature in two different databases: Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD); Capes Periodicals Portal. The analysis of the municipality's legal provisions revealed demands related to the implementation of the Quilombola School Education (EEQ) modality not covered, such as: municipal curricular guidelines and a specific curricular reference for EEQ, specific training programs for quilombola school teachers, specific centers for monitoring students from schools outside the territory and political pedagogical projects, as well as a lack of infrastructure in quilombola schools and quilombola teachers. The municipality's common curricular proposal only mentions Quilombola School Education and Rural Education among the other modalities and presents themes related to traditional peoples dispersed in objects of knowledge and skills from different curricular components. In the Mathematics Curricular Component, recommendations for research-based teaching, the history of mathematics, mathematical modelling, ethnomathematics, among others, were identified as current methodological trends. In the Statistics Thematic Unit, the proposition of statistical research aimed at the interests of students and the production of information for a better understanding of reality is identified. In responses to the questionnaire, teachers corroborated the lack of specific continuing training and demonstrated little understanding of the production of culture in the territory and the differences between race and ethnicity. When asked about working with statistical research in mathematics teaching, they stated other priorities. The meetings with the quilombola girls resulted in engagement, protagonism, group work and a positive relationship with the research, as well as respect for quilombola women as guardians of knowledge and the territory as a place of knowledge. As for Statistical Literacy, the children experienced the transnumeration process with the data collected, refined and applied in tabular and graphic statistical devices, reflecting on the women's living conditions and the issues that impact their quilombola identity. The girls' reflections on themes transposed to people and the community were mobilized by aspects present in some elements that make up statistical literacy. In this way, there was an investment of efforts by the girls in taking critical actions, in relevant speeches and postures, in the face of the data read and evaluated, legitimized by their own arguments and based on the statistical information produced.
