SUMMARY:

In this study, we carried out a theoretical dialogue based on Critical Mathematics Education, relating it to a perspective of School Financial Education for students of Youth and Adult Education. This theoretical perspective expands the discussions on the subject, in order to include in the production of knowledge the pedagogical responsibility to serve the public of this teaching modality, with its specificities and needs, educational, social or economic. Therefore, the research aims to analyze, in the light of Critical Mathematics Education, if and how reflections of School Financial Education mobilize the foregrounds of students of a multigrade class of modules II and IV of Youth and Adult Education of the Education Network of Garanhuns-PE, in decisions on the subject. The methodology, of a qualitative nature, involves the use of structured and semi-structured interviews and classes on the subject, mediated by the researcher. The interviews help us to know the backgrounds and foregrounds of the students, as well as the possibilities of moving them from reflections mobilized by elements related to finance, identified in the episodes of the miniseries O Auto da Compadecida during the debates mediated in the classes. For data analysis, we based ourselves on interpretations of foregrounds meanings, part of the adopted theoretical basis, in which the investigated subjects are positioned on a border influenced by their backgrounds, which lead to five possible directions of foregrounds: polarized; destroyed; amputated; directed or multiplied. However, we believe that reflections on Financial Education in Mathematics classes can contribute to mobilize the formation of foregrounds of Youth and Adult Education students, allowing them, being in a frontier position, to move the directions of their foregrounds.
