SUMMARY:

Several works already developed about the essay test of this wide scale exam indicate a retroactive effect of the High School National Exam on the writing learning process of the high school students, which justifies the relevance to investigate what textual and discursive elements are valued on its evaluation process. In this context, we wrote the present dissertation, which aimed to verify whether the assessment of essays in this wide scale exam considers the criteria related to a dialogic argumentation and whether it values the discursive aspects that constitute authorship. In theoretical terms, we resorted to Bakhtin's (1997) concept of language as an interaction, which, in turn, overlaps to the dialogic argumentation theory present in Leitão (2007). And, as this research is centrally about text production, we also based our analysis on the studies of Marcuschi (2002) and Possenti (2002; 2013), using the latter's propositions about authorship evidence to ascertain the essay writers' control over the own texts. We have done a documental research and our corpus was consisted of copies of essays that have gotten grade of 1000 - the highest grade - on the editions of the Enem in the years of 2017, 2018 and 2019. We randomly chose two essays of each edition, that were published in a document that has been written by the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep) - the body responsible for carrying out the exam -, in order to verify the presence or absence of the argumentative triad, which Leitão (2007) presents as an indicator of a dialogic argumentation, composed by the argument movements / counter-argument /response, as well as the authorship evidences indicated by Possenti (2002; 2013) in the attitudes of including multiple voices in the speech  and to keep distance from the saying itself. The analyses show that the examining board of the Enem, at least in the last few years, has not valued the construction of argumentation in a dialogic perspective throughout the corrections. Besides that, the evidences of the authorship are not well described in the evaluative criteria nor does it, in the evaluation, the same weight that the structural elements in the text.
