SUMMARY:

The thesis investigates the visual cultures and pedagogies triggered by contemporary Brazilian artistic-cultural productions that mobilize photography (images and technological tools), various archives, the human body and its social configurations to propose new ways of knowing, existing and relating to the other (im)possible beings in relation to the modern/colonial world. The thesis elaborates the hypothesis that these productions, disobeying what we know as archives and photography, fracture the imaginaries and the logic of colonizing knowledge inscribed in the matter of human flesh. The argument developed in the thesis was organized into four chapters. In the first, the thesis presents the relations between modern/colonial thought, Aesthetics philosophy and discipline and the two figures that represent the human. In the second chapter, it shows materializations of the colonizing knowledge presented in the previous chapter and the role of photography and other archival materials in the production of this world. Still in this chapter, the thesis presents some necessary initial movements of rupture against the modern/colonial world. For this qualification, these are the two chapters presented. Chapters 3 and 4 are detailed in the introduction to this thesis called “Wanders and cracks”.
