Pina neighborhood, suburb on the southern side of Recife (located in the State of Pernambuco), contrasts in its landscape with luxury skyscrapers and floating houses on the edge of the basin that bears the same name. In 2020, with the pandemic of the new coronavirus, the neighborhood, which has one of the lowest rates of piped water and garbage collection in the city, had a new problem added to a long list that already exists. The increase in the mortality rate in the locality (total of 101 deaths between 2020 and 2021) was another problem that the neighborhood began to face, at the same time that it saw the birth of Rádio de Andada A Voz da Lama, a community radio active in the Bode Community. Through the realization of participant observation, semi- structured interviews and content analysis, we will seek to answer the research question, related to radio contributions to awareness and combat coronavirus in the community, as well as its role in non-formal education in the neighborhood in which it operates.
