Quilombola Communities; Jornal Nacional; Social Representations; Television Journalism; Social Construction of Reality.
This study aims to analyze the social representations of quilombola communities by Jornal Nacional in 2023, using a critical media approach based on the Theory of Social Representations and the Theory of Framing in Journalism. We investigate how these communities are portrayed, focusing on how such representations contribute to the
construction of the social reality of quilombolas. Taking into account the impact of television journalism and the influence of television on Brazilian society, the study explores the visibility, framing, and representativeness of these populations in the media. We seek to understand the dynamics of inclusion and exclusion in national
narratives, aiming to clarify the implications of these representations in the public discourse about quilombola populations in Brazil. The methodology employed in this qualitative research highlights the methods of data collection and analysis, offering a description of the variables and categories used to assess the representation of
quilombola populations in television journalism.
