Sound hyper-realism in contemporary Paraíba cinema
Hyper-realism; Sound Hyper-realistim; Paraíba cinema.
This study aims to assess the use of hyper-realistic resources in the sound dimension of contemporary audiovisual productions carried out in the state of Paraíba (Brazil). Based on the hypothesis of a disseminated hyper-realistic sound as a stylistic practice, it evaluates the radiation of aesthetic processes through this peripheral scenario of audiovisual production as a parameter to measure the diffusion of principles related to the expansion of mimetic reality and the generation of sensory experiences through the soundtrack, as a reflection of a large-scale stylistic trend. To achieve this, it employs theoretical foundations such as representations of sensory (VIEIRA JR, 2020), affective (SCHØLLHAMMER, 2012), and perceptual (PRINCE, 1996) realism, simulacra (BAURDRILLARD, 1991), intensified continuity (BORDWELL, 2006), and a review of the concept of sound representation (CHION, 2008; BUHLER, 2019). By proposing a separation between the morphology and syntax of hyper-real sound, it assesses the procedures and intertextual sound composition of audiovisual works from Paraíba, the processes of creation and production, and the respective aesthetic results through film analysis.
