One year and five months after the explosion in Chernobyl, Brazil entered the statistics of countries that faced tragedies related to nuclear energy. On that occasion, the accident with cesium-137 took place in Goiânia (GO), the largest event of its kind with a radioactive source in the country, and one of the largest in the world that didn’t occur in a nuclear power plant. The objective of this research is to investigate how communication professionals approached the theme in their texts. So that articles published by Folha de S. Paulo and O Globo newspapers about the event from September 1987 through September 2022 are analyzed. With this study we intend to explore and to point out, by both speech and content analysis, the types of framings of the subject in the reports in these 35 years; also to presente a mapping of voices, and to list any additional approaches/guidelines that might not be addressed.
