SUMMARY:

It is in the environment of plurality and visibility of social networks that content producers grow, also called digital influencers, who combine their educational characteristics, media reputations and personal experiences to teach, raise discussions and change the lifestyle of their followers. It is difficult to ignore that such  individuals have become idols for their audiences, capable of impacting and generating behavior change through their overcoming narratives – which we call testimonies, about how they went from a level of failure to a level of success. According to Bispo (2018), testifying is an act of public speech, which illustrates a modern conception of the person, as well as moral languages that constitute ways of life, both religious and secular. We believe that in the case of some digital influencers, their testimonial narratives are just like religious  estimonies – more precisely neo- Pentecostal, guided by the objective of serving as a reference, as models of
inspiration and transformation engine for an audience eager for an example to be followed . In this work, we focused specifically on finance influencers, who already speak to more than 74 million followers (Valor Investe, 2021). The research problem therefore lies in understanding how the discourses of these influencers approach a neo-Pentecostal testimonial narrative and a religious ethics that sees a vocation in the accumulation of capital. Our hypotheses are that (a) the narrative pattern found is associated with the founding text 'bible', which legitimizes the existence and  reproduction of this testimonial format within churches, (b) that at present, this pattern has been extended to other types of discourses dissociated from the religious perspective, in this case of digital influencers, (c) that this discourse obeys a narrative formula that has the objective of generating adherence and initiating a cyclical movement of witness and transformation. The research methodology will be Discourse Analysis, based on a netnographic research, as we understand, like Mainguineau (1998), that discourse is oriented, and this does not occur only because it is conceived from the perspective of an interlocutor, but also because the speeches are inserted linearly in time, building themselves from a purpose and aiming to reach a specific public. To build the corpus, we will study a year of publications between 2022 and 2023 by the three biggest digital finance influencers in Brazil, respectively Thiago Nigro, Carol Dias and Nathalia Arcuri.
