SUMMARY:

The FITradeoff Method consists of a multi-criteria approach with interactive and flexible preference elicitation, requiring only partial information from the decision-maker. This method is implemented in a Decision Support System (DSS), constantly updated to improve and comfort interaction with the decision-maker. Thus, this research aims to investigate the cognitive aspects of decision-makers when they carry out the elicitation process by decomposition in SAD FITradeoff. For this, a neuroscientific experiment was conducted with 57 participants, using Eye-tracking, to investigate the level of attention and the pattern of behavior concerning the design and location of elements in the SAD. Participants applied their respective decision problems, enabling the extraction of fixation duration data for each step and sub-step of the decision-making process. These data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics to generate recommendations and improvements in the SAD design to make the decision-making process as practical and comfortable as possible. These analyzes can also help other SADs with the same objective about the FITradeoff method.
