FITradeoff. Negotiation. Elicitation Protocol. Negotiation Platform.
This work proposes an analysis of the preference elicitation protocol for multiple issue negotiation based on the FITradeoff method for the ranking problematic proposed by Frej et al. (2019a). In the context of this study, it will be possible to analyze the main advantages of the FITradeoff method for the elicitation of issues scaling constants in the additive model, as well as the convergence of bilateral negotiations through simulations of hypothetical web-based problems. Another contribution of this work is to present a new electronic negotiation platform that operationalizes the preference elicitation protocol, because in many situations, negotiations occur in an unstructured manner, as well as time and geographic region can be limiting factors for negotiators, making it necessary to use web-based resources. A discussion about the usability of the platform in the simulations is also presented, where it is possible to observe interesting aspects, such as the fact that the negotiator has the flexibility to make at any time an offer to his/her counterpart based on the ranking obtained from the FITradeoff method for ranking, besides being able to do, in parallel, the preference elicitation. Thus, it is observed that the FITradeoff method for negotiation proves to be robust, while allowing negotiators a structured elicitation process that demands less cognitive effort and time, as well as efficient agreements.
