SUMMARY:

Decision support methods are developed to support multi-criteria problem solving, providing a structured approach with important performance of the execution organizational decisions. Cognitive effort understanded as the ability to vary the depth of engagement with a cognitive task and can influence a number of fundamental cognitive processes, including working memory, cognitive control, and decision-making. The objective this work is, from the results generated by behavioral experiments in a decision, evaluate of the cognitive effort and involvement of the participants to express their preferences in two distinct moments: in the elicitation of preferences with the Tradeoff procedure and with the FITradeoff method. With support of Neuroscience in Decision tools, neurophysiological data correlated with mental effort collected through Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. The comparative study of these data generated several analyses, such as the POPE Index of involvement. The analysis results may indicate an increase in task involvement and a reduction in cognitive effort when performing the elicitation with the FITradeoff method and help to understand the factors that affect decision making, especially organizational decisions that may generate environmental, social impacts and economic. In addition to suggesting, based on the results, improvements to the design of the Decision Support System (DSS) of FITradeoff, as well as providing an important contribution to the analyst in the process of advising the decision maker.
