SUMMARY:

A proper performance of production systems during operation depends on the adoption of an adequate maintenance strategy. In this sense, operation and maintenance must be aligned. Although it is common to intersperse system operation and maintenance windows, it is clear that organizations prioritize operations. Limitations on organizational resources and the dependence between system components impose extra difficulties on maintenance planning. In this context, mathematical models are used to guide maintenance decisions. Selective Maintenance models fit this proposal. Although these models have been explored in the literature for some time, there are opportunities for improvement; mainly, with regard to integration with other levels/categories of organizational planning. This constitutes the general objective of this text. In this sense, models were developed that integrate the problem of selective maintenance with the problem of maintenance budget, made available in full or in installments. These models also capture the deviations between the operating condition of production systems and the designed ones. Time was also devoted to modeling the quality of imperfect actions and analyzing the efficiency of using this category of intervention in terms of the consumption of organizational resources and in promoting sustainability. In this perspective, models for short-term maintenance planning were also developed. In this sense, the economic dependence between the components of the system was considered and a performance indicator with potential gains for long-term planning (also obtained through a model) was proposed. In both contexts, an algorithm for planning was developed and numerical examples were solved.
