SUMMARY:

The following research deals with a problem of optimizing cash management based on data from a Peruvian bank, proposing a mathematical model that allows money to be distributed efficiently to supply its various distribution centers (e.g., ATMs, branches and retailers) according to the type of currency (domestic or foreign), with the aim of satisfying customer demand. The objective of the following research paper is to solve a problem of transfer and transportation of values, which consists of determining the values of the banknotes (by type of note) that must be sent to each city of Peru (either by air or land transport, coming from another city, or by operations of withdrawal or deposit of the money through the central bank of reserves), so that the daily demand forecast for each city is met and the total cost of operation and storage is minimized. This work will be carried out through a proposal for a multi-period and multi-commodity mixed integer linear programming model that incorporates the different costs involved in the process, defining the values necessary to supply the various distribution centers that the bank has. At the national level, in turn, the best operation and the precise value to be able to carry out the money transfer will be chosen.
