BIG AREA: Engenharias
AREA: Engenharia Civil
SUMMARY:

The collapse and expansion phenomena are responsible for pathologies in different engineering works, resulting in financial losses, schedule delays, dissatisfaction of the inhabitants and even fatal accidents due to structural compromise. The analysis of the behavior of collapsible and expansive soils aims to establish guiding measures regarding the use and occupation of the soil, as well as preventive measures regarding the planning stages of an enterprise. Technological advances have contributed to the emergence of tools that facilitate the establishment of these measures, such as: Geographic Information System (GIS), Business Intelligence (BI) and Cloud Computing. Based on these technologies, this work aims to create a database, develop susceptibility maps and create Business Intelligence panels for these soils, covering the entire territory of Brazil. Google tools, mainly Google Sheets, were applied in the construction of the Special Soil Bank (BANDASE). The GIS program used to prepare the susceptibility maps was QGIS.  BI dashboards were created using Google Data Studio.  The geotechnical data repository resulted in 267 records of collapsible soils and 259 records of expansive soils, which correspond to 130 and 107 bibliographic references, respectively. From fundamental climatological and pedological maps, the application of susceptibility criteria to collapse and expansion, classified into three levels of susceptibility (high, medium and low), resulted in derived maps and the superposition of these resulted in interpretative maps. Regarding collapsible soils, the results showed high susceptibility in 37.0%, average in 2.8% and low in 58.5% of the national territory. High susceptibility to expansive soils was found in 3.6%, average in 1.2% and low in 93.6%.The application of BI technology made it possible to transform the large volume of data into relevant information on climatology, pedology, susceptibilities and geotechnical data. The access to dashboards, which takes place online, offers users a series of advantages, such as ease of acquiring information, time savings, unified visibility of the entire data set, information quality, dashboard interactivity, in real time, among others.
