What is the role of the politics of national champions in fulfilling Chinese foreign policy goals?
The argument defended in this research was that the policy of national champions, through the
strengthening of state-owned companies, contributed to the goals of Chinese foreign policy,
with emphasis on the goal of promoting China's economic development. Based on the
theoretical framework of economic diplomacy, this study analyzed the performance of Chinese
national oil companies and identified that through a dynamic between commercial and state
interests, the Chinese State has reconciled domestic and external objectives, with an emphasis
on security energy.
