During the periods of political-military conflict in 1998-1999 and the coup d'état in 2012, how was civil society involved in managing and resolving political crises during these processes? Faced with a context of cyclical political, economic and social crises, as is the case in Guinea- Bissau, civil society often takes on important functions that correspond to the duties of the state, in other words, the task of Guinean civil society has been to promote spaces for communication and negotiation of consensus, with concern for the general interests of society. In this sense, this dissertation aims to analyze the dynamics and actions of Guinean civil society during the periods of coups d'état highlighted above. However, it is argued that in Guinea-Bissau civil society played an incisive role in the struggle to promote equality, civil liberties and political rights, in the creation and maintenance of public and private spaces, sometimes in acts of conflict prevention and management. In methodological terms, we used a qualitative approach and bibliographical techniques.
