SUMMARY:

Bacterial Cellulose (BC) is a biopolymer wich has been widely investigated due to unique attributes such as nanometric structure, simple production, biocompatibility, among others. These characteristics have led several lines of study to seek the creation of new materials made from additive BC, in situ and/or ex situ, one of these lines being the magnetization of the biopolymer. In the literature, magnetic BC biopolymers are produced by adding particles such as magnetite, which can be incorporated in different ways, thus adapting to various types of methodologies, different parameters, availability of materials and desired objectives according to the specific application. This thesis aimed to evaluate magnetite incorporation methodologies in BC films, investigate the properties of the formed biomaterial, and direct potential applications. For the maintenance of the microorganism and fermentation of the BC, HS media and 2 alternative production media were used, corn steep liquor and papaya peel, where the one that presented a better biomembrane production was corn steep liquor, which produced membranes of 1.5 cm in 10 days, with X pores. The magnetite addition methodologies evaluated were the incorporation of ready-made nanoparticles, inside the BC, and in situ coprecipitation, with whole and ground wet BC membranes. It should be noted that all films were dried after their synthesis, through lyophilization and drying in an oven. The produced materials were characterized by incorporation percentage tests, where they presented similar values of nanoparticles in the final product.
