SUMMARY:

The civil construction industry is one of the main responsible for the consumption of natural raw materials, with values that can reach up to 50% of the global consumption of natural resources, being considered one of the main environmental polluters, with consumption of approximately 30 billion tons of concrete and mortar. However, it is also known that natural resources are finite, being a relevant and current challenge in the scope of environmental sustainability in civil construction the adoption of alternative materials and changes in production methods, in order to minimize waste, promoting its reuse or processing. In this sense, there is algaroba lime, produced from a source of CaCO3 from the burning of biomass, which has the potential to be applied in mixed coating mortars. The aim of this research is to characterize these mortars, through predominant analyzes in chemistry and materials science, joining them to the main mechanical tests of civil engineering. For this, it was decided to produce mortars with hydrated lime, type CH-I, with mesquite lime and with products and by-products of biomass ash. Three proportions were defined to be studied for the preparation of mortars. In the first stage of this study, the materials were characterized through the chemical composition of each material (FRX), crystallography of the materials (DRX), specific surface area, among others, making it possible to observe individual characteristics of each material. The mortars were produced satisfactorily, carrying out, on the hardened specimens, mechanical tests of tensile strength in flexion and compressive strength, in addition to the chemical composition through the FRX test. The results indicated that algaroba lime significantly influenced the results, according to the statistical analysis carried out through analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's test.
