SUMMARY:

The personal archive of a public figure does not only carry elements of his individual memory, but also different sociocultural aspects of the community in which the subject is or was inserted. In this context, this research aims to analyze the importance and the contributions of the personal archive of the poet Ezequias Pessoa de Siqueira for the social memory of the city of Palmares. As for the methodological procedures, this is a case study of descriptive, qualitative and applied nature, which made use of bibliographical review and document analysis. Four central stages were carried out: i) identification of the elements of the collection that collaborate to the recovery of the social memory of Palmares; ii) implementation of preservation actions, hygienization and proper packaging of analogical documents; iii) application of the life cycle model of the Digital Curation Centre in the poet's archive, in order to ensure better management and subsequent availability of information and; iv) conducting semi-structured interviews, for biobibliographical contextualization of the poet's life story and improvement of the representation and contextualization of the content of the personal archive. As theoretical results, it was discussed the onto-epistemological relations between the concepts of Culture, Memory and Document in Information Science. As practical results, it was applied digital curatorial actions that contributed to the organization, contextualization, preservation and possibility of access to the archive. It is hoped that this research can contribute as a practical experience of application of Digital Curation in personal archives, as well as with the access by researchers, students, family and society in general to the archive, contributing, in this way, to the preservation of the regional memory.
