SUMMARY:

This research is about the delineation of the essential informational resources for the informational environment of University Observatories of Science, Technology and Innovation. These observatories are structures already consolidated and with recognition within society and can assist in the providing of prepared information directed to the informational necessities of users and in the creation of specific indicators that can support decision-making. This study main objective is to identify the adequate informational resources for the implementation and operation of a University Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation. Its specific objectives are: identifying informational sources, services and systems responsible for providing primary data aimed at a University Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation; presenting the information resource entities essential to the effective functioning of the informational environment of a University Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation; presenting a model of informational environment to Observatories of Science, Technology and Innovation aimed at university institutions. This research is descriptive regarding its nature, exploratory regarding its objectives and documentary and case study regarding its means. It makes use of the Infomapping method for the mapping of informational resources of the OtletCI Observatory. In the results, it was presented and analyzed the informational resources identified through the four stages of the Infomapping method and then a model of informational environment to University Observatories of Science, Technology and Innovation was proposed. Ultimately, it is understood that the results achieved by this research represent an expansion of the structural and operational understanding regarding the functioning of a Science, Technology and Innovation Observatory, focusing higher education institutions.
