BIG AREA: Ciências Sociais Aplicadas
AREA: Ciência da Informação
SUMMARY:

This is an exploratory research, with bibliographic procedure, for the development of a Systematic Literature Review (RSL) around the theme Cultural Diffusion. The objective is, in general, to analyze, starting from a Systematic Literature Review, the concept and application of Cultural Diffusion in Information Units, based on Brazilian scientific production. In specific terms, the objective is to map the scientific productions that address the theme of Cultural Diffusion in Information Units; Apply the Systematic Literature Review method; Establish connections and divergences between the concepts in the professional areas that make up the Information Units and; Discuss the epistemic aspects of Cultural Diffusion and its application in the context of Information Units. From a methodological point of view, RSL is used, as it is an additive, reproducible, impartial method that reduces the number of research biases from explicit and pre-defined methodological paths through a research protocol to obtain the data. It is partially concluded that Cultural Diffusion activities are practices inherent to the information professional and actively contribute to fulfilling the social role of the Information Unit.
