SUMMARY:

This exploratory research, of the case study type, aimed to identify heterotopic aspects present in two spaces, "The Smallest House in Olinda" and the "Lesbian Bar," both built by the artist from Pernambuco, Fernando Peres, who since the 1990s has been developing artistic practices that significantly delve into the construction of autonomous spaces, which flow simultaneously with a broad work that mixes developments of artist books, photographs, video production, performance, and tireless drawing practice that writes many aspects of his experiences. To do so, a bibliographic review of the term proposed by Foucault was carried out here, as well as a lecture given in Tunisia in 1967, published only in 1984, where he states that the twentieth century is the century of space, the era of the simultaneous, of juxtaposition, of the near and the far, of the side by side and the dispersed. Therefore, Foucault asserts that we are in a moment in which the world is experienced much more as a network that reconnects points and intersects its plot in space than as a great road that develops over time. In addition to these reflections, to constitute this review, I also used research produced by critics, researchers, and curators in the field of art who dialogue with the term proposed by the French philosopher, such as the works of Bourriaud (2006) and Reinaldo (2006). In the last part of this work, I developed a documentary survey that served as a starting point for initiating the analyzes that attest to the latent presence of heterotopic characteristics present in the spaces built by this artist.
