INVESTIGATIONS OF PLAYTEST STRATEGIES IN INDIE GAMES WITH A REGIONAL CHARACTER

Out of 1.9 billion games purchased on one of the biggest game sales platforms in the world, Steam, 30% are independent (or indie) games. Not to mention the massive availability of these games for free on the same platform. However, the risks during development found in games with large investments (the AAA) are the same for independent studios, whose structure, team, and budget are reduced. This research focuses on investigating which strategic playtest measures are configured in the reality of an independent developer (indie), reviewing the most recent conceptions and perspectives of specialists, verifying the existing methods. Therefore, the research will evaluate the performance between the perception of local studios and the literature, verifying the best suitability for playtesting in independent games.
