SUMMARY:

Despite the cycle delivery activity not being new, since the bicycle is a means of transport used since the 19th century, the number of people on the streets of Brazilian cities performing this function has increased exponentially in the last two years, a situation that was configured during the serious period of the covid-19 disease pandemic, resulting in a scenario of fragility: unemployment and/or precarious working conditions. In this scenario of accelerated transformations driven by technology, one sees the legislation (including the Regulatory Norms) trying to achieve such changes at a slow pace. Meanwhile, people are exposed to work precariousness, including psychosocial and physical risks of outside activity. In front of the station, one sees in this context a possibility of contribution of Design and Ergonomics to improve the physical and psychological comfort of these workers. Considering the uniform as a work tool that stands between its user, its activity and the environment where it is carried out, the present investigation focused on the following question: to what extent do uniforms affect the feeling of satisfaction / well-being of the cycle delivery man? With a material cut, turning to the fabric used in this wearable artifact, the uniform of the Empresa Nacional de Correios e Telégrafos (ECT) was used as a research object, considering the postal delivery cycle (the postman) of the city of Recife - PE as your user. This institution was chosen due to its great symbolic value, as it is a traditional company in the country, operating at a national level. In addition, it has, in its body of postal workers, those who work using the bicycle as a tool for locomotion and delivery of orders. With the aim of proposing recommendations for improvements to professional clothing in outdoor environments in order to promote comfort and well-being to ECT postal couriers in the city of Recife - PE, this research outlined a hybrid methodological path, divided into four phases that use tools from ergonomics, usability and experimental psychology. In the first one, the macro system of the postal delivery cycle was characterized; in the second, an understanding of the usability of the uniform was sought; in the third; there was an affective evaluation of the delivery cycle during the activity; and, in the fourth, the data obtained in the previous phases was crossed, culminating in the proposition of recommendations for the design / selection of uniform for external environments of the ECT. Through the SHTM method, natural, physical, environmental, actional, movement, operational and biological ergonomic problems were identified; the hierarchical ordering of the system; its goals, constraints and results. Based on the OIKOS methodology, the usability of the uniform was investigated, characterizing the textile material in terms of its mechanical nature and tracing the profile of its user. Using the PANAS self-report tools and a biofeedback device, the user's affective experience regarding their activity was evaluated. It was concluded that, despite possible points of improvement and intervention regarding the material of the uniform, this is not the main problem in the system in the perception of its users, who highlighted footwear as the most problematic component. Through the affective evaluation tools, it was noted that the participants manifested more emotions of positive than negative valence throughout the activity, which contributes to job satisfaction and the feeling of self-fulfillment, touching on hedonic and eudaimonic factors. However, it is important to look at the ergonomic and practical usability factors, which proved to be subject to intervention and/or changes, especially in the lower part of the uniform, such as weight, finishing, elasticity and resistance to biological, natural and physical agents.
