SUMMARY:

This research aims to formulate a methodology to identify and abstract morphological patterns observed in specific references from nature for the aesthetics of artifact lines through parametric design and strategic design tools. It focuses on Morphological Analogy, considering mainly the morphological patterns of nature raised in the research as main parameters, and also considering several analyzes on the fundamentals, methodologies and projects of bioinspired design. Named Nature MorphoLogic Design, it has 8 main steps: (1) Research of the nature reference, (2) Identification of morphological patterns in the reference, (3) Definition of the Parametric Morphological Strategy (EMP), (4) Development of the EMP in parametric design software, (5) Definition of parameters in strategic design for the conception of the artifact line, (6) Generation of parametric alternatives, (7) Selection of alternatives of the products line and (8 ) Prototyping and final adjustments. To validate it, 3 experiments were carried out through Workshops in virtual platforms, with a group of specialists, using the sea urchin as a natural reference to develop lines of jewelry, furniture, lighting and tableware. At the end of the workshops, the participants evaluated the experiments through a questionnaire and the general public evaluated the developed products. The research revealed that both the participants evaluated the NMD methodology as effective and the general public was able to identify that the products developed in the workshops were based on sea urchins, proving that the methodology was able to abstract the morphology of nature to artifact lines.
