SUMMARY:

This work focuses on the analysis of the attractive quality perceived in the urban landscape of the Alto do Moura Tourist Route, a recognized tourist destination that integrates significant cultural and natural elements. The main objective of this dissertation is to define a conceptual proposal for evaluating this quality, aiming not only to identify the aspects that contribute to its attractiveness, but also to suggest improvements based on a rigorous empirical and theoretical analysis. The investigation is justified by the need to understand how elements of the urban landscape can be optimized to improve the experience of visitors, enhancing tourism and, consequently, local development. This study uses the Facet Theory as a theoretical-methodological basis, allowing a systematic approach to identifying and analyzing the attributes that influence the perception of attractive quality by tourists. Within the methodological scope, specific objectives were defined: identifying the attributes related to the attractive quality of the landscape, examining the effects of these attributes on the proposed evaluation, evaluating the consensus between different groups of respondents and proposing recommendations for improving the perceived quality. The sample population consisted of visitors to the route, with data collection carried out using an instrument specially developed for this purpose, following the principles of the Facet Theory. The main results indicate that the perceived attractive quality is influenced by several factors, including walkability, staying capacity and the possibility of contemplation. Furthermore, it was possible to observe a consensus between the different groups studied in relation to the most valued attributes of the urban landscape, such as the visual and functional integration between natural and built elements. Based on the results obtained, the work proposes a series of practical recommendations for managers of the Alto do Moura Tourist Route. These recommendations aim to improve the visitor experience and include the requalification of public spaces, the improvement of pedestrian infrastructure and the creation of rest areas that allow appreciation of the landscape. These interventions have the potential to significantly increase the attractiveness of the location, encouraging a greater flow of tourists and promoting sustainable development. In conclusion, this dissertation contributes significantly to the field of urban landscape and tourism studies, offering a robust model for evaluating the attractive quality of tourist routes. The insights derived from this study not only enrich academic knowledge on the relationship between urban landscape and tourist experience, but also provide practical guidelines for urban planners and tourism managers interested in maximizing the potential of urban spaces to attract and satisfy visitors.
