SUMMARY:

The perspective of Problem Exploration (PE) in Design evaluated in the dynamics of developing innovative products in research projects at an Institute of Science and Technology (ICT) in Health comprises the object of this research, which is characterized as a case study with an approach qualitative. The first phase of the study considered bibliographical research applied in a systematic way to identify the main approaches that constitute the current perspective of PE in Design: the problem-solution co-evolution, the multidisciplinary approach and the use of systematized methods; interrelated to the innovation context. These theoretical dimensions, in categories of analysis, were applied to evaluate the dynamics involved in research projects in the second phase of the study, to identify possible potential factors for approaching the Design perspective in the environment. The results indicated the following favorable aspects present in the environment: the perception of the importance of problematization and the search for assertive solutions to users' needs, multidisciplinarity and collaboration as basic elements for project viability, in addition to integration as the main aspect for greater encouragement of innovation . In relation to the use of Design approaches, the nature of the project objective demonstrates an influence on susceptibility, with products related to health information resources showing greater potential. Finally, and observing the particularities between the theoretical dimensions of Design and the project environment of an ICT, guidelines were proposed for the research and development process of new products, in line with the principles of the Innovation process.
