SUMMARY:

Observing the scarcity of studies on the material culture of the Pajeú hinterland, the research aims to contextualize the physical, historical, social and economic environment of the Pajeú river valley. Exploratory trips will be made throughout the region, collecting existing furniture as well as interviewing users and artisans. Based on the material collected, the context and concepts of what vernacular design is, we intend to categorize and analyze a significant sample of this furniture.
