SUMMARY:

Studies on the preservation of fashion memory today are at a time of great relevance and rise. To this end, and in a somewhat particular context, the study presented seeks to understand the collection of artifacts involved in the world of fashion design, outside the museum circuit, which preserve the memory of fashion. To this end, this research proposes to study a private collection called the Nina Sargaço Collection. Where we strive, through the case study methodology, to analyze the trajectory of construction, maintenance and expansion of Nina Sargaço's personal collection, between the years 2019 and 2022 in the city of São Paulo-SP. The collection is made up of textiles of different types, machinery, tools, books, magazines and photographs, all referring to the world of fashion and methods of teaching manual work done with needles. To achieve the research objective, a case study will be carried out as previously mentioned, on the collection, seeking evidence that validates this preservation, through triangulation between interviews, participant observation and documentary analysis. In addition, meeting the specific objectives that are understand in depth the trajectory of the collector and her collection, from the decisions to safeguard these memories through fashion artifacts to her motivations to continue maintaining and expanding the collection.
