SUMMARY:

The current profusion of information, in an unprecedented exponential growth of data, makes managing a project quite complex. In addition to generative technologies, the communication approach in the production of artifacts requires technique, organization and planning, so that the message to be passed on to the user (whether a member of the team or a stakeholder) is clear, objective and can be quickly assimilated - retrieved. This work proposes to address how information design can be a useful tool in this informational process, and its technique can add substantially to effective communication, with efficiency and effectiveness. The research problem to be overcome is to investigate the contribution of information design to the production of visual artifacts as management support tools for decision-making, through a case study to be carried out at the Project Management Office - EGP of the Pernambuco Planning, Management and Regional Development Secretariat - Seplag. These artifacts, visual presentations, are produced and used by government managers - especially planning, budgeting and management managers, who work in the PMO. In this respect, the way in which data and information is presented plays an important role and information design can facilitate its reception and interpretation, allowing for more efficient action. In the search for an answer to the proposed problem, the research will be developed in three parts: the first, conceptualizing project management and contextualizing it in the public sphere, including public value and decision-making; the second, addressing the concepts of information design in the visual presentations of the PGE and, finally, final considerations about its contribution, with the aim that the visual presentations become more efficient communication tools when they are updated to manage the goals monitored by the government managers of the Project Management Office - PGE of the Pernambuco Department of Planning, Management and Regional Development - Seplag, through experimentation with the artifacts produced and used in the period between January 2022 and December 2022, as the research universe.
