SUMMARY:

The sense of place encapsulates the complex relationship, associations and interaction between the subjective experiences of the human being and the objective influences of the physical environment, which means that the concept is not predetermined, but created out of person-place interactions. The place of human habitation (home) is a complex and transformed space, especially in its interior aspect, symbolically appropriated by its inhabitants and which functions as a mold and channel of behavior. Facing the functional rearrangements of the residential space in the current post-pandemic context, the research seeks to understand the relationships between people's perception of the physical characteristics of their homes and the construction of the sense of this "new" place, considering, mainly, the experiences lived there and identity issues related to belonging to a place. The Facet Theory is used as a structuring metatheory for the design of the empirical research and as a tool for the formulation of hypotheses, with the general objective of elaborating a conceptual model for the evaluation of the construction of the sense of place in the residential space. Adult people will be approached, considering as macro samples the residents of the same condominium of houses or apartments. The participants, grouped by two different contexts related to the current work modality (ones who continued in remote work / who returned to presential work), will respond to a questionnaire based on the general mapping sentence of the construction of the sense of place, composed of facets referring to physical characteristics of residential space and emotional aspects of the construction of sense of place. It is expected that it will be possible to confirm the guiding hypothesis of the research that the referent facets of the physical and emotional experience are adherent to the intended evaluation and that there is a relationship between them in the structure of the evaluation model.
