In this work we analyze posts shared by the institutional profile of a public university on Instagram. We seek to build a methodological framework that allows considering linguistic and rhetorical aspects that involve the relationship between the two forms of verbal and pictorial graphic language, identifying how they converge in the construction of meaning, syntactic consequences of these relationships, as well as the presence of rhetorical arguments in institutional communication on the social network. For this purpose, the terminologies proposed by Twyman (1979) for graphic language were used; the analysis methodologies of Evelyn Goldsmith (1980) and Jeremy Mulvey (1987); in addition to considering the presence of rhetorical arguments identified through Aristotelian appeals (ethos, pathos and logos). Finally, we consider that this theoretical body was sufficient to propose a basis that would discuss linguistic aspects of institutional posts, in addition to allowing the identification of persuasive arguments of the content composition.
