ACCESSIBILITY OF CARD PARTY GAMES WITH AN EMPHASIS ON COGNITIVE ASPECTS OF ASD
Card Party Games, ASD, Game Accessibility Guidelines.
The present investigation discusses the theme of accessibility, an aspect that aims to promote access and the condition of reach, perception and understanding for the use, on equal opportunities, safely and allowing an individual to participate in life in society with autonomy and independence. More specifically, it addresses the cognitive accessibility recommendations from the Game Accessibility Guidelines, accessibility guidelines aimed at playful artifacts, with emphasis on Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), present in card party games, card games with simple rules, short duration and that allow ample social interaction. Such a premise opens the way for the research question: how do the components present in card party games impact the cognition of individuals within the ASD, generating interest in such games? After establishing the general objective of proposing a systematic set of contributions for components of card party games based on the cognitive accessibility recommendations of the Game Accessibility Guidelines, stimulating the interest of players within the autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a survey was carried out. bibliography, in order to found the theoretical basis. Through the Method of Comparative Procedure, it was possible to confront, through triangulations, the cognitive Game Accessibility Guidelines and the four axes of the Elementary Tetrad of Schell's Games, a classification that allows to subdivide the games in mechanics, narrative, aesthetics, and technology, in the different card party games, resulting in results that demonstrate the degree of accessibility in each artifact. Finally, guidelines were proposed for adaptations of playful artifacts, raising reflections on making inclusive design decisions, culminating in the development of more accessible card party games, aimed at players with cognitive, neural, or learning disabilities, especially ASD.
