Path, criticism and dialogues: Sérgio Ferro in the text A Casa Popular
Sérgio Ferro; A Casa Popular; Popular, Índice.
Having combined his practical work as an architect with his artistic and teaching work for many years, the architect Sérgio Ferro followed an important path that led him to write the text that is the focus of this research, entitled "A Casa Popular" (The Popular House), written in 1969 and published in 1972. This text marks an effort by Ferro to approach the discussion of the "popular" in architecture through an important critique of the way in which these dwellings were built and produced by workers. We set out to understand the author's intellectual trajectory, highlighting the main paths that led to the construction of this text, as well as investigating the relationships and events that surrounded Sérgio Ferro during the writing and publication of "A Casa Popular". The aim is to understand the ideas contained in "A Casa Popular" as an index of Sérgio Ferro's thinking on the popular. This method of analysis seeks to understand the author's contribution to the subject through the interlocutions between the writing of the text itself and the relationships maintained by Ferro in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
