Keywords: Religiosity. Poetry. Meaning of life.
This master’s dissertation aimed to establish an investigative study on the presence of religiosity aspects in the poetry by Maria do Carmo Barreto Campello de Melo, as well as the singular importance of her work for the study of religiosity and the sacred in literature, through the analysis of the nuances of meaning that the religious aspects produce in her poetic work and how the concept of religiosity and the sacred are constituted, realized and constructed textually in her work. To this objective, we followed the theoretical contributions developed mainly by Alex Villas Boas (2016), Anco Márcio Tenório Vieira (2017), Antonio Magalhães (2022), Eugene Webb (2012) and Maria Clara Bingemer (2015), among other authors; we also focused on the critical fortune of her poetic work according to the texts by Sébastien Joachim (1998), ngelo Monteiro (2012) and Fátima Quintas (2018). Based on these reflections, we proceed with the analysis of the author's poems that present marks of religiosity and reflect the search for the meaning of life and existence, as a way of understanding how this relationship is constituted in her poetics.
