This research discusses the children's work of the award-winning playwright from Pernambuco Luiz Marinho, renowned in the Brazilian theater scene with plays for adults such as Um sábado em 30, A afilhada de Nossa Senhora da Conceição and Viva o Cordão Encarnado. Restless in his creative genius, in the early 1970s, the author decides to take a chance on something completely new and challenging: writing for children. In an attempt to understand the paths taken by Marinho in the construction of literary work that dialogue with childhood without underestimating their audience with poor texts and loaded with moral "lessons", this work also focused on the entire evolution of children's literature, which culminated  in essential debates such as, for example, the reception of texts by children, the importance of the ludic, of the poetry of the fantastic - so typical of childhood - and how all this adds aesthetic value to the texts. It is likely that the wealth of discussions that were seething at that moment pushed Marinho towards his new endeavor. The fact is that, indisputably, the author was completely attentive to everything that was happening and this is stamped in his texts.
