SUMMARY:

In the course of this research, it will be possible to understand how subaltern voices find in Contos negreiros (2005) the strength to break with the silence imposed by the hegemonic world-system through literature. There are characters in this work who use social disgraces to exist. Among them, there are illiterates (Canto XI, Totonha), homosexuals (Cantos VIII and XIII, Coração and Meus amigos coloridos), prostitutes (Canto V, Vaniclélia), exploited indigenous children (Canto XVI, Yamami) and black people who face the day to day day of a nation whose roots are rooted in racism and the subordination of specific communities (Cantos I and II, Trabalhadores do Brasil and Solar dos Príncipes). In addition to these problems, sex tourism still emerges (Canto IV Alemães vão a Guerra), organ and people trafficking (Canto VII, Nação Zumbi), the chaos of urban life (Canto XII, Polícia e ladrão), police violence (Canto III, Esquece) and the assimilation of dominant structures (Cantos X and XV, Nossa Rainha and Meu negro de estimação). There is still a lot of humor, a grace in misfortune as Freire likes to say in the work, but we can highlight Cantos VI and IX, Linha do Tiro and Caderno de turismo to complete the brief presentation of the summary of Contos negreiros (2005). The theoretical foundation of this research was supported by Guha (1982), Spivak (2010), Said (1988), Grosfoguel (2008), Quijano (2015), Paulo Freire (1989), Djamila Ribeiro (2019) and Lélia Gonzalez (2022) for the discussion about subalternity. To bring up the investigation of gender as well as identity and the abject body, we brought Louro (2008), Preciado (2007), and Butler (2019); Paul Zumthor (1997) helped us shed light on oral poetry and performance. While this dissertation sought to discuss structures rooted in the cultural processes of colonized countries, it was necessary to bring cultural scholars such as Culler (1999), Bhabha (ANO), as well as Lugones (ANO) and Maldonado (ANO) to the debate. In any case, it would not be possible to approach all these themes without having a place to draw them from. It is the literary work and its characters that sustain the table for our discussion. Therefore, for us to have excellence in critical analysis, the contribution of Antonio Candido (2000), Beth Brait (1985), Patrocínio (2013), Sartre, Barthes (1983) and Foucault (1999) was essential. To continue the study of historiography, the work of sociologists who investigated Brazilian society since its formation, such as Gilberto Freyre (2019) and Darcy Ribeiro (2015), was important. To introduce the author, we will try to understand how his work as a writer is organized. We will also find information about the different facets that reveal themselves in the agency of the author Marcelino Freire in the literary world. To this end, we will deal with what Antônio Cândido called “the three indissolubly linked moments of artistic production” (CANDIDO, 2000, p.21): the author, the work and the public. It is precisely the triad that makes possible the artistic production brought by Candido that will deal with the chapter in question. In it we will have biographical and bibliographic data on the author Marcelino Freire, as well as a presentation of the author's relevance to Contemporary Brazilian Literature and academic research. For this, a set of information will be organized about the author's life, his literary agency (not only as a writer), the works written and organized by Freire, and scientific research that focused on Freire's universe.
