FROM YOUR WRITINGS TO AUTOMIDIALITY: THE WORK OF AGUSTINA BESSA-LUÍS AND THE DOCUMENTARY NASCI ADULTA E MORREREI CRIANÇA, BY ANTÓNIO ALMEIDA
Handwriting. Self. Subjectivation. Subject. Automediality.
This thesis aims to Agustina Bessa-Luís' writings of herself in her works from the theoretical bias of automidiality. Thus, this is a bibliographic and qualitative research, in which the works O livro de Agustina (2014), by the Portuguese author Agustina Bessa-Luís and the documentary, Agustina Bessa-Luis:Nasci adulta e morrerei criança, by António Almeida and her books dialogues with the literary texts, the short story Um inverno frio, the novel Um cão que sonha and the biographical book As meninas will be analyzed and all of them were written by the same author in study. The thesis has two chapters, one being a theoretical, in which, by topics, the theories that dialogue and promote automediality are divided. And the second chapter is intended for the analysis of the works, according to theory. Thus, it is in the last chapter that we observe in different forms of texts that Agustina Bessa-Luis, weaves her subjectivity as a writer And it is in this versatility of literary and cinematographic genres, that we identify in writing and autobiographical revelations, how the writer builds her automediality. Thus, we can say that this self is raised through the image of a writer created by herself. Or rather, we can say that the subject Agustina, presented in her works, is, in fact, the subject - writer Agustina Bessa-Luis.
