SUMMARY:

In a scenario of uncertainties and rapid social changes (MOITA LOPES, 2013), it is possible to notice how the advancement of digital information and communication technologies has potentiated multiple communication modes from assorted languages. In addition, it has facilitated greater contact with distinct cultures, from most different places. Such multiplicity is latently present in students' literacy practice classes. These changes also impact didactic materials, since the printed versions do not always meet the pedagogical needs of a student who increasingly produces and reads multimodal and multicultural texts. In this context, the present research, characterized as documentary and qualitative-interpretative, aims to develop and analyze a digital didactic material, the teaching prototype (ROJO, 2017a), for language teaching. Situated in the area of Applied Linguistics (MOITA LOPES, 2006; RAJAGOPALAN, 2003; KLEIMAN, 2013), this work also object building and analyzing such material in the light of the proposal of the New London Group, known as the pedagogy of multiliteracies (GNL, 2021 [1996]); COPE; KALANTZIS, 2006). This pedagogical design emphasizes the working with multicultural and multimodal texts so that the student can critically and autonomously design other possible realities. Accordingly, we seek to observe how different languages and cultures, the digital information technologies as well as the pedagogy of multiliteracies are addressed throughout the prototype. We realized that the teaching prototype is a robust material and suitable for dealing with different languages, in different media, and in the most diverse genres. As a material that is born in the digital context, it proved to be an important tool for approaching canonical and non-canonical genres, in order to promote a cultural and perspectives multiplicity in language classes.
