SUMMARY:

In this academic project we tried to observe the ways to say the Peasant and the Peasant Leagues, understanding the speeches that support the ways to name them in two journals that were edited during part of the existing period of the Galilea Peasant League: the journal “Liga”, produced as part of the fighting actions in the movement, and “Diario de Pernambuco”, newspaper from Recife, with mass-circulation in Pernambuco state. It makes part of our analysis corpus, therefore, clippings (ORLANDI, 1984) from the Liga newspaper, in the period that comprehends the years from 1962 to 1963, and Diario de Pernambuco, between 1959 and 1964. All parts of this academic project are based on Discourse Analyses founded by Michel Pêcheux which institutionalization in Brazil occurred through Eni Orlandi’s works. From the mobilization of notions that make part of DA, such as Ideological Formation, Imaginary Formation, Discursive Formation, Discursive Memory that we tried to understand how the image of the peasant is built in the discourses of these two newspapers and, from the mobilization of this imagery, to understand the discursive processes through which is made the nomination, in the fight by the sense of these words, admitting that “the ideological contradictions which are developed through the language oneness are constituted by the contradictory relations that keep […],with each other and the discursive processes because they enroll the ideological relations of classes” (PÊCHEUX, [1975] 2010, p 81). Formally, this academic project is divided by four chapters. The first one shows the conditions of production of discourses of and about the peasantry, emphasizing the way the peasant relation with money and work, so are the fights by the lands fought by the peasants. In the second chapter, we situate methodological matters, highlighting the composition of analysis corpus. We still present the newspapers Liga and Diario de Pernambuco to explain the importance of fights / quarrels for land, between 1959 and 1964, initially, in Pernambuco and, later, in different Brazilian states. In the third chapter, we show the discursive sequencies analyses. In this, the nomination processes are approached, with emphasis in the fights between the discursive formation. While Diario de Pernambuco produces the discourse that criminalizes the fight by the land, disqualifying, mainly, who fights for it. Liga newspaper is seen as an answer to this discourse, working as some resistance space because it translates the desire of education coming from the peasants and because it serves as some space of peasantry fight, in which the Peasant can have the word and talk per se. In the end, as the last movement, we try to understand how the Liga newspaper discourse is built as some resistance gesture in relation to the hegemonic discourse, from that time to the peasant fighting for the land and to the control of their own means of production. And this resistance marks the subjectivity put in language, it is seen, also, that the Peasant possesses the word. The resistance of Peasant is made by reframing the senses and dislocating the interpretation processes historically subscribed.
